Professor John Bird, one of the primary instigators and visionaries behind the Monash 'Aerobotics Research and Development Program' Professor Bird is seen here pulling out the on-ground image target marker "L. H" (Lawrence Hargrave) which is being used for these preliminary image recognition tests. These tests will be used to 'train' airborne vision systems to identify surface based objects with potential for recognition, identification and monitoring of small to medium sea going craft
