Jean Batten : A Gallery of 1935
Card number 40 from a special set of 50 cards entitled "A Gallery of 1935" which was issued by the UK Card Collectors Society for exclusive distribution to its members in 1999. The Card Collectors Society has made available to us a very limited number of these cards which were excess to their requirements. This card is from a limited edition reprint of a set which was ORIGINALLY issued in the UK by Stephen Mitchell & Son in 1936. The set is an officially authorized reproduction produced by Imperial Publishing under license from the Imperial Tobacco Company. The front of this card shows an artist drawn picture of Jean Batten, while the back of the card has the set title, card number and a nice brief biography. The size of this card is approximately 1.4 X 2.7 inches

"New Ambulances presented to the L C C and the Anglo-French Ambulance Corps. 5.6.40. New Ambulances were presented by the Ambulance Trust Fund, to the LCC and the Anglo-French Ambulance Corps, at the Country Hall this morning. The object of the fund is to provide motor ambulances for use with the British and allied forces abroad and in Gt Britain. OPS Miss Jean Batten, the famous New Zealand aviatrix, who is one of the drivers of the Anglo-French ambulance corps, takes charge of a new ambulance this morning."
