Greg Holland was one of the prime developers of the Aerosonde robotic aircraft and has led the program since its inception. He is now the Chief Executive Officer and Director.

He has worked with the Bureau of Meteorology for nearly 30 years, as a forecaster, lecturer and research scientist, most recently as a Senior Principal Research Scientist.

He was the founding leader of the Mesoscale Meteorology Research Group in the Bureau of Meteorology Research Centre, a position that he recently left to enable him to devote more time to Aerosonde activities.

He has been an associate of the Faculty in the Monash University Mathematics Department and is an honorary Professor at the University of NSW.

Greg is active in international activities. He is Chairman of the Tropical Meteorology Research Program for the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and a member of the WMO International Committee on Tropical Cyclones; the WMO Climate Variability Monsoon Panel; the Meteorology Committee of the Pacific Science Association; and the WMO Working Group on the World Weather Research Program.

He is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society, a member of the Australian Meteorology and Oceanographical Society, and the Pacific Science Association.

His publications have included major contributions to six text books and forecast manuals, including Chief Editor of the Global Guide to Tropical Cyclone Forecasting for the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), together with over 80 research papers on topics ranging from tropical cyclones and monsoons, through east-coast lows, sea-breezes and severe convection, and the Aerosonde.

Greg was born in Sydney in 1948 and grew up on a farm in central NSW and in the Wollongong area. He obtained a BSc. with Honours Class I in Mathematics from the University of New South Wales in 1972, and an MS. and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Colorado State University in 1981 and 1983.

Greg is married to Christine with three children, Gary, Daryl and Sarah.
