Pusher Biplane #1, Test Flights (private) - 1909/10John and Reginald Duigan - A Photographic Gallery
The following images are of test flights more than likely only witnessed by the photographer at Spring Plains Station (either John or Reginald Duigan and/or their two assistants? who often appear in images from this period). They are true pieces of our aviation history. Where the obverse of the print has been annotated this is also noted as in several cases, the annotation precisely dates the image. The original prints were either 5" x "7 or 8" x 10" enlargements (presumably made at the time and now substantially yellowed), or in several cases, what appear to be 'contact prints' made from the original negative and printed by the local photographic dealer, pharmacist or possibly the Duigans themselves. The last image is most representative of this. As far as possible, the actual 'appearance' of the original prints has been retained with digital retouching employed only to peel back the ravages of time - scratches, dust spots, flaking etc. In most cases however the photographs were found in remarkable condition, most apparent if you download the larger 500 pixel or 1000 pixel copies also made available. enjoy !
